RO rec infor from WILLIAM xxx, Dean FERRIN's employer, as to the ID of the two girls who babysat for Darlene FERRIN, Friday, 7-4-69. Using this info, RO contacted the parents of the two girls and request they bring them to the VPD. This was done at 6:45pm in Rm 16 interviewed the following: Pamela Kay xxx, WF-15, 12-10-53, 247 xxx, 644-xxxx, and and Janet Lynn xxx, WF-14,8-13-54, 406xxx, 644-xxxx, both accompanies by their fathers. They stated the following:
Pamela was doing the actual babysitting and this was the first time she had sat for Darlene, also she had known Darlene slightly prior to this. Janet was just going along to keep Pamela company. Stated that at 7pm Mr. SUENEN, Darlene's father, picked up both of them and had Darlene's sister, Christine, with him also. They were taken to Darlene's home at 1300 Virginia where they were met by Darlene. Darlene and Christine were going to the festivities downtown and Darlene said she would be back by 10pm, and left around 745 pm. Darlene also told them she was going to go to SF when she got back, didn't say who with or why. While Darlene was gone a phone call rec and a female asked Darlene to come to the Terry's Rest. when she worked, this message relayed to Darlene when she called the house at about 9pm.
The girls stated Darlene didn't return until about 11:30pm or shortly before that. Darlene then told them she had changed her mind about going to S.F. and was going to have a small party when her husband got home. Darlene then spent a few minutes cleaning up the house and then she said she was going to go out and buy some fireworks and other things for the party and that she would be back by 1230am. Darlene left the house around 1140pm and they didn't see her again.
About 130am Darlene's husband and some friends came home and they told her husband what she had said and he didn't seem worried, said she's always late. Husband then took the two girls home, this shortly before 2am, and apparently was going right back home....Both girls stated they were not close to Darlene and could not offer any other info. (Rust)
