12.26.68 - Teenagers found shot near pumping station in Lake Herman area
  • Evidence revealed on Monday regarding the (text of this portion of the article is unknown at this time) of an accomplice in the murder of David Faraday, 17, and Betty Lou Jensen.
  • According to Det. Sgt. Les Lundblad, both victims were shot in the head by a small calliber gun.
  • Darlene apparently died immediately. 
  • David is pronounced dead on arrival at Vallejo General Hospital.
  • The victims were discovered at "about 11:24 pm" by Stella Borges who was driving to a Benicia theater to pick up her daughter. 
  • Stella Borges sped on past the scene and flagged down a Benicia patrol car occupied by Dan Pitta.
  • David was shot once behind the left ear.
  • Betty was shot 5 times in the right upper back as she attempted to flee.
  • Det. Lundblad is checking out a lead that Faraday had (text of this portion of the article is unknown at this time) with another youth over Jensen last Wednesday.
  • Another youth has (been) questioned, because he witnessed (text of this portion of the article is unknown at this time) however the (text of this portion of the article is unknown at this time) has a fairly solid alibi. Witnesses state this you was at home until about 11pm. This youth had previously participated in a July house robbery.
  • Evidence of an accomplice consists of two different calliber bullet holes being present in the Faraday Rambler, a .38 calliber hole in the roof panel (passenger side) and a .22 calliber hole, located slightly behind the .38 in the rear window. Lunblad states that hole looks new to him. Faraday's parent state neither of the bullet holes were on the vehicle prior to the Lake Herman Rd. attack.
  • Lundblad states that both bullets could have been fired to force Faraday and Jensen out of the car.
  • 10 .22 calliber long rifle casings were found at the scene.
