12.20.68 - Solano County Sheriff's Department Offense Report


RO: BUTTERBACH & WATERMAN

On arrival at the above location RO's observed several Benicia Police Units. RO's contacted Captain Pitta, Lt. Little and Officer Warner and a reporter from the Fairfield Daily Republic, Thomas D. Balmer. There was a 1961 Rambler, 4-door S/W, two-tone dark tan over light tan, California license DTL-962, no registration. The station wagon was parked in the entrance way into the pumping station. The front of the station wagon was pointing in an easterly direction. Approximately ten feet behind the station wagon was the body of a young lady (BETTY LOU JENSEN, WFJ 16 years, DOB 7-21-52, of 123 Ridgewood Ct., Vallejo) The body was partially covered with a wool gray blanket. The face and head was covered with blood. There was a large pool of blood where the body was lying. There was a chalk outline of a man's body on the ground (DAVID ARTHUR FARADAY, WMJ 17 years, DOB 10-2-51, of 1930 Sereno Drive, Vallejo) By the right front door of the station wagon where the man's head was outlines, there was a very large pool of blood. Several small caliber casings were on the ground in the area. There was a white fur type ladies' coat laying on the left side of the rear seat of the station wagon, right side just above the chrome stripping on the lower part of the window just off center to the rear of the window. RO requested the reporter stay out of the area until Dectective Sgt. Lundblad and the coroner arrived and gave him their permission to enter the area.

12:05AM 12/21/68 Det/Sgt. Lundblad arrived at the scene. Sgt. Lundblad requested RO's go to Vallejo Hospital to try to get a statement from the boy (FARADAY)  12:23AM 987 Vallejo General Hospital. Contacted nurse, Mrs. Barbara Lowe, 321 Cypress Street. RO requested permission to see FARADAY. Mrs. Lowe stated FARADAY was dead on arrival at the hospital. HGe was pronounced as dead at 12:05AM by Dr. Siebert. RO checked FARADAY. He had been shot in the upper portion of the left ear by a small caliber bullet which penetrated the ear and head. There was what appeared to be powder burns on the left ear where the bullet had entered. There was a a large lump on his right cheek and his hair on the left side of his head was matted with blood. There was also blood on his hands and the sleeves of his shirt. He was wearing a light blue long sleeve shirt, brown corduroy pants-level type, black socks, tan leather shoes-rough texture. He had a Timex wrist watch, chrome case and band, on his left wrist, 85 cents (3 quarters and one dime) in his left front pants pocket, a black comb in his left hip pocket, a white handerchief and small bottle of breath drops (Binaca) in his right front pants pocket. There was nothing in his right hip pocket. He had a class ring by the tips of the ring  and middle fingers of his left hand. The ring in yellow metal with a red stone. The wallet he had was given to RO by Mrs. Lowe. It contained several I.D. cards, social security card and driver's license. The wallet is a small men's wallet, black in color. He was also wearing a brown leather belt.

RO called Sgt. Cunningham to have someone come to the hospital to take pictures. Pictures taken by deputy J.R. Wilson
